“Aaishah is My Wife in Paradise.”

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Aaishah is my wife in Paradise.”

As-Saheehah, no. 1142.

Do This and Allaah will Build a House for You in Paradise


The Imaam said, “The Merit of Filling the Gaps in the Rows [for Prayer]:

The Prophet said, ‘Whoever fills a gap, Allaah will build a house for him in Paradise and raise him one degree in status thereby.’” [Saheeh]

Seeking Refuge from The Fire and Asking for Paradise Seven Times a Day


From Abu Hurairah who said, “The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, ‘No servant seeks refuge from the Fire seven times in a day except that the Fire says, ‘O Lord! Indeed your servant, [called] so and so, has sought refuge with You from me, so grant him refuge. And no servant asks Allaah for Paradise seven times in a day except that Paradise says, ‘O Lord! Indeed your servant, [called] so and so, has asked for me, so make him enter Paradise.’’”

Shaikh al-Albaani, may Allaah have mercy on him, said, “This hadith is authentic without doubt.

A point of benefit: Some people in Damascus and other places have made it a habit to seek refuge seven times as mentioned in the hadith loudly and in one voice after the morning prayer, and that is something which I know of no basis for in the pure Sunnah, and nor is this hadith suitable for them to draw upon [for saying it loudly and in unison] because it is unrestricted and is not limited to the morning prayer or the jamaa’ah, and it is not allowed to limit what the Wise Legislator has left unrestricted just as it is not allowed to make unlimited what He has restricted, for all of that is legislation which is specific to the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

So let whoever wants to act upon this hadith do so at any time of the night or day, before the prayer or after it—and that is a pure/unadulterated following [of the Sunnah] and pure sincerity, may Allaah the Blessed and Most High grant us it.”

Fathers whose Children will Intercede for Them on the Day of Judgement

Questioner: What kind of intercession is it that a child will do for his father when his father was someone who had given an aqiqah on behalf of that child? [The Aqiqah being the Sunnah of sacrificing two sheep for the new-born boy and one for the girl]

Al-Albaani: It is known in many hadiths that on the Day of Resurrection there will be young children standing at the gate of Paradise, crying and asking for their fathers. So Allaah the Blessed and Most High will send Jibreel عليه السلام to ask them why they are crying–even though He the Blessed and Most High knows better about them–so Jibreel عليه السلام will ask them and they will reply, saying, ‘We will not enter Paradise except that our fathers are with us.’ So the Lord of the Worlds will give permission to them and their fathers to enter Paradise.

So this type of intercession, i.e., hastening entry into Paradise, is what those fathers who offered aqiqah’s on behalf of their children, i.e., sacrificed on their behalf when they were born, deserve.

Are There People in Paradise or the Fire Now?


Questioner: O Utsaadh! Are there people who have now entered Paradise or people who have entered the Fire? Like the aayah in Surah Yaa Seen, “It was said to him, ‘Enter Paradise.’” [Yaa Seen 36:26]

Al-Albaani: This is about what will be. As for now, there is nothing but the life of al-Barzakh. Entering Paradise or the Fire is appointed at the Reckoning … [at] the resurrection on the Day of Resurrection.

Questioner: Even the martyrs and Prophets?

Al-Albaani: All of them. But their souls are in a specific state of bliss as he عليه السلام said, “The souls of the martyrs are in the crops of green birds, eating from the fruits of Paradise,” and likewise, “The souls of the believers are in the bellies of green birds, eating from the fruits of Paradise.” So this bliss is that of the souls, as for the bliss of the body and soul together and likewise the torment [of them both together], that will not be except after the resurrection.

Questioner: Okay, O Ustaadh! What we understood, according to our intellect, is that when a person is living, his soul and body are interconnected …, when Allaah the Mighty and Majestic says, “Think not of those who are killed in the Way of Allah as dead. Nay, they are alive …” [Aali-Imraan 3:169] what I mean is [i.e., what I understand from the aayah is], ‘Nay, they are alive …’ i.e., alive as in the soul is in the body, connected.

Al-Albaani: This is something well-known which does not need to be asked about, the Prophet explained it for you and gave you the answer and I mentioned it to you earlier … the souls of the martyrs are in the crops of green birds, what does this mean? That firstly, the life of a martyr is commensurate with his rank before Allaah and, secondly, [at the same time it is also commensurate] with his existence in barzakh.

Life differs.  Life in Barzakh differs from life in this world, and life in the Hereafter differs from both of those forms of life together, life in the Hereafter is different from life in al-Barzakh and life in this world too.

For this reason it is not permissible for a person to employ analogical reasoning [qiyas] … making an analogy of that which is Unseen based upon that which is, such that you say, ‘We don’t know life except in this manner!’

Don’t use this life which you are familiar with to make an analogy of that life which you are not acquainted with; especially when some texts have been related which totally clarify for you the fact that the life of martyrs which our Lord the Mighty and Majestic affirmed in the Quraan, saying, “Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, receiving provision …” … what is their provision?

It is not [various] dishes like those we have, their provision is that they eat by way of what that green bird eats, this is the provision [being referred to], the hadith explains the Quraan.

Questioner: When the Prophet عليه الصلاة والسلام saw Paradise and the Fire and found those who were being punished therein and those who were in bliss, how is that then?

Al-Albaani: Yes, the [differing] states that the Companions of Paradise and those of the Fire will be in [i.e., after Barzakh, on the Day of Judegement] was unveiled to him–this is the true unveiling [kashf] which the Sufis have stolen and attributed to themselves; it [i.e., such kashf] is only for the Prophets and Messengers.

The Gates of Paradise and Hell

اَلْجَنَّةُ لَهَا ثَمَانِيَةُ أَبْوَابٍ، وَالْنَّارُ لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَابٍ

From Utbah ibn Abd as-Sulami who said that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Paradise has eight gates and the Fire has seven gates.”

Is it incorrect to Worship Allaah out of Hope for His Paradise and Fear of His Fire?


Our Shaikh, without any objection [to the question I am going to ask], sorry [but]: Why do we worship Allaah, do we worship him out of the desire for Paradise and fear of the Fire? Or is there something else? I.e., something which is [connected to] the natural disposition of man?

Al-Albaani: i.e., your question centres around what has been reported from Raabi’ah al-Adawiyyah that she used to say when calling upon Allaah … “I don’t worship You out of hope for Your Paradise and nor out of the fear of Your Fire, rather I only worship You because You deserve to be worshipped.”

The reality is that this issue which has been reported in this sentence from Raabi’ah–and it does not concern me whether it has been authentically attributed to her or not, because I look at what is said and not at the one who is saying it–this sentence goes against the natural state of man, goes against what I assume is the natural disposition [fitrah], i.e., which is that a person worships Allaah according to other than the madhhab of Raabi’ah if it [i.e., that saying] has been correctly attributed to her.

[A person] worships Allaah out of hope and fear and this is something which Allaah described His servants with in the Noble Quraan, and it is not possible for a person to be divested of fear from something which is [so] colossal, horrendous, and terrifying. It is not possible except if he is taken out of the state of being human–and we are talking about humankind [here].

So look, for example, at Musa, the one whom Allaah the Blessed and Most High spoke to, when Allaah gathered him and Pharaoh’s magicians together and they came with their magic which took hold of the reasoning of those present, included among them was Musa about whom the Lord of all Creation said in the clear text of the Noble Quran, And he sensed within himself fear, did Moses. We said, “Fear not. Indeed, it is you who are superior.” [Taa Haa 20:67-68]

So Musa felt fear from the magic of those magicians, [magic] which was falsehood, but fear is from man’s nature.

For this reason when a person can be afraid of a wild animal, a lion, a hyena, the magic of a magician and so on, then how can he not be afraid of the punishment of the Lord of all Creation? And how can he not hope for the everlasting bliss which is with Allaah?

It is not possible for a person to free himself of this at all. So he worships Allaah in the hope of gaining His Paradise and fearing His Fire.

For this reason the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم when describing himself, he mentioned something to them which I don’t recall now …, [he said], “By Allaah! I am the one who fears Allaah the most from all of you and the most pious of you.” So he صلى الله عليه وسلم feared Allaah.

So how can it be possible to imagine a person who worships Allaah and does not fear Him, this is impossible.

A Midday Nap Forty Years Long


أَتَعْلَمُ أَوَّلُ زُمْرَةٍ تَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي؟ قُلْتُ: اللهُ وَرَسُوْلُهُ أَعْلَمُ، فَقَالَ: اَلْمُهَاْجِرُوْنَ يَأْتُوْنَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَاْمَةِ إِلَى بَابِ الْجَنَّةِ وَيَسْتَفْتِحُوْنَ، فَيَقُوْلُ لَهُمُ الْخَزَنَةُ: أَوَ قَدْ حُوْسِبْتُمْ؟ فَيَقُوْلَوْنَ: بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ نُحَاسَبُ وَإِنَّمَا كَانَتْ أَسْيَافُنَا عَلَى عَوَاتِقِنَا فِي سَبِيْلِ اللهِ حَتَّى مِتْنَا عَلَى ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ: فَيُفْتَحُ لَهُمْ، فَيَقِيْلُوْنَ فِيْهِ أَرْبَعِيْنَ عَامًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَهَا الْنَّاسُ

From Abdullaah ibn Amr that the Prophet of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Do you know the first group of people to enter Paradise from my nation?”  I said, “Allaah and His Prophet know best.”  So he said,  “The muhaajiroon.  On the Day of Resurrection they will come to the gate of Paradise and ask for it to be opened.  So the keepers will say to them, ‘Have your accounts been settled?’  So they will say, ‘And what will we be called to account over when verily our swords were on our shoulders in the Path of Allaah until we died upon that?’ So it will opened for them. So they will have a midday nap[1] therein for forty years before the [other] people enter it.”

عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ جُحَادَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ زَمِيْلٍ لَهُ مِنْ بَنِيْ الْعَنْبَرِ عَنْ أَبِيْهِ- وَكَانَ يُكَنَّى: أَبَا الْمُنْتَفِقِ- قَالَ أَتَيْتُ مَكَّةَ، فَسَأَلْتُ عَنْ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ – صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ -؟ فَقَالُوا: هُوَ بِعَرَفَةَ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ؛ فَذَهَبْتُ أَدْنُوْ مِنْهُ فَمَنَعُوْنِيْ، فَقَاْلَ: “اُتْرُكُوْهُ “. فَدَنَوْتُ مِنْهُ، حَتَّى إِذَا اخْتَلَفَتْ عُنُقُ رَاحِلَتِهِ وَعُنُقُ رَاحِلَتِيْ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ! نَبِّئْنِيْ بِمَا يُبَاعِدُنِيْ مِنْ عَذَابِ اللهِ، وَيُدْخِلُنِيَ الْجَنَّةَ؟ قَالَ:(1- تَعْبُدُ (وَفِيْ رِوَايَةٍ: اُعْبُدُ) اللهَ وَلاَ تُشْرِكْ بِهِ شَيْئاً.2- وَتُقِيْمُ الْصَّلاَةَ الْمَكْتُوْبَةَ.3- وَتُؤَدِّيْ الْزَّكَاةَ الْمَفْرُوْضَةَ. 4- وَتَصُوْمُ رَمَضَاْنَ. 5- وَتَحُجُّ وَتَعْتَمِرُوَانْظُرْ مَا تُحِبُّ مِنَ النَّاسِ أَنْ يَأْتُوْهُ إِلَيْكَ؛ فَافْعَلْهُ بِهِمْ، وَمَا كَرِهْتَ أَنْ يَأْتُوْهُ إِلَيْكَ؛ فَذَرْهُمْ مِنْهُ

From Muhammad ibn Juhaadah, from a man, from a friend of his from Bani al-Anbar, from his father whose kunyaa was Abul-Muntafiq, who said, “I came to Makkah and asked about [the whereabouts] of the Prophet, صلى الله عليه وسلم, so they said, ‘He is at Arafah.’  So I went to him and tried to get close to him but they prevented me.  So the Prophet, صلى الله عليه وسلم, said, ‘Leave him.’ So I came close to him until our riding beasts were neck and neck and then I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah!  Inform me of that which will distance me from the Fire and cause me to enter into Paradise?’  So he said, ‘1) That you worship (and in a narration there occurs, ‘Worship …’) Allaah and do not associate anything in worship with him; 2) establish the prescribed prayer, 3) give the obligatory zakaah, 4) fast Ramadaan, 5) and perform Hajj and Umrah, 6) and look at how you would like to be treated by the people and so treat them in that manner, and how you would not like to be treated by them, then [likewise], do not treat them in that manner.’”

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ – صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ – فَقَدَ كَعْباً، فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ؛ فَقَالُوا: مَرِيْضٌ، فَخَرَجَ يَمْشِي حَتَّى أَتَاهُ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ: أَبْشِرْ يَا كَعْبُ! فَقَالَتْ أُمُّهُ: هَنِيْئاً لَكَ الجنَّةُ يَا كَعْبُ! فَقَالَ: مَنْ هَذِهِ الْمُتَأَلِّيَةُ عَلَى اللهِ؟ ! قَالَ: هِيَ أُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ! فَقَالَ: وَمَا يُدْرِيْكَ يَا أُمَّ كَعْبٍ؟ ! لَعَلَّ كَعْباً قَالَ مَا لاَ يَعْنِيْهِ، أَوْ مَنَعَ مَا لاَ يُغْنِيْهِ

From Ka’b ibn Ujrah, may Allaah be pleased with him, “That the Prophet, صلى الله عليه وسلم, missed Ka’b and so asked about him, they replied, “He is ill.”  So the Prophet, صلى الله عليه وسلم, left and walked until he came to him.  When he entered upon Ka’b, he said, “Receive the glad tidings, O Ka’b!” So his mother said, “O Ka’b, congratulations!  For you is Paradise!”  The Prophet, صلى الله عليه وسلم, said, “Who is the one who is taking an oath upon Allaah [that Ka’b has a place in Paradise]?”  Ka’b replied, “She is my mother, O Messenger of Allaah.”  So he, صلى الله عليه وسلم, replied, “And how do you know, O mother of Ka’b [that he is going to Paradise]?  Maybe Ka’b spoke about something which did not concern him or he withheld giving something which was insignificant?”[1]
