Al-Albaani, Ibn Baaz and Loyalty
Shaikh al-Munajjid said, “One time I had a private conversation between me and our Shaikh Abdul-Aziz ibn Baaz regarding the Shaikh, al-Allaamah, Muhammad Naasirudeen al-Albaani. Shaikh al-Albaani had taught for a period at the Islamic University of Madinah, then returned to Syria.
Many years later, I had this meeting with Shaikh Ibn Baaz. Look, a true brother, a loyal friend, is one who benefits his brother and his friend even after a long time has passed, he still strives to help him.
Ibn Baaz told me, and he said this to me privately, by Allaah, privately, in his home, just between the two of us, “We kept Shaikh Muhammad Naasiruddeen al-Albaani’s salary from the University running for him even after he left. Shaikh Umar Fallaatah, would collect it on his behalf.”
Look at this, Shaikh Ibn Baaz knew the conditions in Syria, he knew the hardship there, and knew his brother Shaikh Muhammad Naasiruddeen al-Albaani, his virtue, his knowledge, and his contributions. He didn’t just let him leave and walk away. Rather, he worked to keep his salary going and to maintain it for him.
Look, Al-Albaani died, Ibn Baaz died, but loyalty didn’t.”
